We are working on a special new movement spreading through churches across America called “Not a Fan” with pastor and author, Kyle Idleman, that we want you to be a part of. As a new voice in Christianity, Kyle is calling believers to declare that they are “Not a Fan” of Jesus. He preaches that “Jesus doesn’t want fans. He wants completed committed followers.”
Kyle Idleman is the teaching Pastor at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY, the fifth largest church in the nation, and speaks to over 20,000 each weekend. What started as an Easter morning sermon, where he shared his own battle between being a fan verses a follower, has become a DVD teaching series and now a book releasing through Zondervan on May 31, 2011.
With the “Not a Fan” movement, Kyle is addressing the celebrity-driven fan culture that is permeating Christianity and the faith leaders who call people to Christ without explaining the responsibilities that come with being a believer. In his message, Kyle focuses on what truly accepting Christ means in our lives. Using the passage in Luke 9:23, of Jesus’ invitation to follow Him, Kyle challenges believers to ask themselves, “Am I a fan or a follower?”
Meant to push cultural Christians to live a life deeply rooted in faith, this book calls attention to a growing problem in American churches and offers a solution.
Recently featured on Rick Warren’s pastors.com, “Not a Fan” is a powerful and candid book about one Christian who learned how to be a true disciple of the Lord and not just an admirer and has a passion to share this same experience with others. http://blog.pastors.com/blogs/pcom/not-a-fan-idleman/.
I look forward to talking with you soon about this life transforming new book.
