Through his career as a highly sought-after author and therapist, Harville has made seventeen appearances on the Oprah Show, one of which won Ms. Winfrey her first Emmy Award and was ranked in her top twenty shows. Harville has also been featured on many television shows, magazines and newspapers worldwide.
Throughout his 40 years of experience as a therapist, educator, clinical trainer, author and public lecturer, Harville has received many awards for his work with couples and his books have been translated into more than 50 languages.
Harville and Helen also founded the highly respected Imago Therapy movement in 1980 . Imago Therapy has been implemented in 30 countries by more than 2000 therapists. Harville & Helen currently serve as Emeritus Board members of Imago Relationships International.
Harville is author of two best sellers, Getting the Love You Want: A Guide for Couples and Keeping the Love You Find, A Guide for Singles, and a third best seller, co-authored with Helen, Giving the Love They Need: A Guide for Parents. They have also co-authored these additional books, The Couples Companion, The Personal Companion and The Parent’s Companion, Receiving Love: Transform Your Relationship by Letting Yourself Be Loved, The New Couples Guide to Getting the Love You Want and A Manual for Receiving Love.
Harville lives with his wife in New York and New Mexico and they have six children and four grandchildren.

Helen LaKelly Hunt, Ph. D., who has recently co-authored A New Way To Love with her husband Harville Hendrix, Ph. D., is committed to lifting the voices of women and girls worldwide.
Helen has co-authored seven books with her husband, Harville and has been instrumental in the development of Imago Relationship Theory for couples popularized in the New York Times bestselling book Getting the Love You Want. And now through A New Way To Love, Helen & Harville together have a new message of hope and deep commitment to couples that is already changing lives and impacting the marriage movement.
Helen holds three degrees from Southern Methodist University, an honorary PhD from the Chicago Theological Seminary and a PhD from Union Theological Seminary.
She is also an honored inductee in the National Women's Hall of Fame and in 2008-09, co-chaired a campaign called Women Moving Millions that raised $180 million for women’s funds in the Women’s Funding Network
In addition, Helen is the founder and president of ‘The Sister Fund,’ a private women's fund dedicated to the social, political, economic and spiritual development of women and girls. Helen has helped start a number of women's funding institutions, including the Dallas Women's Foundation, the New York Women's Foundation and the National Network of Women's Funds (now the Women's Funding Network).
Helen and Harville live in New York City, and have six remarkable children.
