LOS ANGELES, CA. – Award-winning filmmaker, Lee Stanley presents his new memoir, Faith in the Land of Make-Believe: What God Can Do… Even in Hollywood (Zondervan) slated for release worldwide March 2011, featuring a foreword by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, star of Stanley’s No.1 box office hit Gridiron Gang.
More than a narrative about a young man destined to accomplish the impossible, more than a chronicle of a successful Hollywood writer, producer and director, Faith in the Land of Make-Believe is the brutally honest memoir of someone who was never taught how to be a man, a husband, or a father and was “scared to death somebody would find out.” After learning not to depend on what he could become in Hollywood and learning to become totally dependent on God, not only did Stanley change his life, but also the lives of millions of others.
In the book’s foreword, Dwayne Johnson writes, “When we shook hands for the first time, he looked me straight in the eye and thanked me wholeheartedly for doing the movie. It was then that I could see Lee was comprised of pure truth, compassion and conviction. Those are indicative adjectives when I describe Lee Stanley and certainly truthful words to describe this book, Faith in the Land of Make-Believe.”
Lee Stanley learned early in life never to show a weakness, but deep down, his heart was filled with a tremendous amount of fear, confusion, hopelessness and pain. With a macho facade, womanizing ways and hair-trigger rage, Stanley became his own worst enemy—an enemy that could only be defeated by something greater than himself. It was ultimately through his challenge to God after a near-death experience, and God’s promise that he would take violent, juvenile offenders out to sea and make a film documenting the voyage, that Stanley was greatly humbled. With his new transformation Stanley dedicated his life to his new calling, working with troubled youth.
Stanley states, “The one thing I did not expect was that, in the process, Jesus Christ would reveal exactly who Lee Stanley really was and that in order for me to fulfill my God-ordained purpose on earth, I would have to change—a change that only God Almighty himself could bring about. It didn’t all happen overnight. But it all happened—His way.”
Faith in the Land of Make-Believe is the powerful and brutally honest story of a man who learned how to become totally dependent on God. It is a book about passion, determination and a refusal to give up. Most importantly it is about fulfilling one’s purpose by never backing down, always standing solely and completely upon the Word of God.
